- Land Custom Stations on the international border are notified under Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962 by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. The notified Land Custom Stations in the North Region are given in the table below. Development of trading facilities in the Land Custom Stations is done by the State Governments usually with funds from the scheme of "Central Assistance to States for Developing Export Infrastructure and other Allied Activities (ASIDE)" of Department of Commerce. (for details of the ASIDE Scheme please see the relevant section in the website). Some of the Land Custom Stations are non-functional. The trade through them is not very robust and the volumes are uneven. The land custom stations are not under any single authority.
- Some Land Custom Stations have been selected for being developed as Integrated Check Post (ICP) by the Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs. ICPs will have modern comprehensive facility for trade and immigration (for details of ICPs, please see the relevant section in the website).
