Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region

With a view to facilitate and better coordinate the ongoing development activities in North-Eastern States being undertaken by the central Ministries/Deptts through its various schemes/programmes, the officers of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region have been assigned the duties of Nodal officers. Officers of the level of Joint Secretary and equivalent in the Ministry have been designated as Chief Nodal Officer for each NE State and under each Chief Nodal Officer, Nodal Officer(s) of the rank of Director/Deputy Secretary/Joint Director have been appointed, in addition to their normal assigned work. These Chief Nodal Officers and Nodal Officers also facilitate in compiling inputs/data required from the State Govt assigned, from time to time, in case of urgency and important event/policy formulation, besides

• (i) undertaking the field visits in their respective State for inspection and review of the ongoing projects on-the-site
• (ii) providing inputs on new initiatives and projects for socio-economic development in North Eastern States.
